Estimate of Large CZT Detector Absolute Efficiency

چکیده
This paper presents a simulation of the spectroscopic performance of two large CZT coplanar detectors, 1.5 1.5 cm area and 1.0 cm thick, with coplanar anodes. A code, based on the GEANT libraries and classical Monte Carlo sampling, was developed to simulate experimental scenarios. This code adapts the GEANT capabilities for simulating complex detection systems for spectroscopic studies. Detectors with perfect charge transport and collection were first simulated. The code was benchmarked by simulating an HPGe detector. The result for this detector is used for estimating the code’s capabilities. Results from the simulation of this basic detector model are presented and discussed. Subsequently, the effects of a possible realistic electric field profile in a coplanar detector unable to efficiently deflect electrons to the collecting anode is studied. From the analysis of the differences found between the simulated and measured results, some conclusions relating the electrode design and detector quality are proposed.

Investigating the effect of characteristic x-rays in cadmium zinc telluride detectors under breast computerized tomography operating conditions.
A number of research groups have been investigating the use of dedicated breast computerized tomography (CT). Preliminary results have been encouraging, suggesting an improved visualization of masses on breast CT as compared to conventional mammography. Nonetheless, there are many challenges to overcome before breast CT can become a routine clinical reality. One potential improvement over curre...
متن کاملOptimization of an ultra-high-resolution rectangular pixelated parallel-hole collimator with a CZT pixelated semiconductor detector for HiRe-SPECT system
Introduction: In nuclear medicine, the use of a pixelated semiconductor detector such as CZT is an of growing interest for introducing new devices. Especially, the spatial resolution can be improved by using a pixelated parallel-hole collimator with equal holes and pixel sizes based on the pixelated detector. The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of pixelated and ...

We describe initial results of our program to develop and test Cd-Zn-Te (CZT) detectors with a pixellated array readout. Our primary interest is in the development of relatively thick CZT detectors for use in astrophysical coded aperture telescopes with response extending over the energy range ∼ 10 − 600 keV. The coded aperture imaging configuration requires only relatively large area pixels (1...
متن کاملAbsolute Myocardial Blood Flow and Flow Reserve Assessed by Gated SPECT with Cadmium-Zinc-Telluride Detectors Using 99mTc-Tetrofosmin: Head-to-Head Comparison with 13N-Ammonia PET.
Recent advances in SPECT technology including cadmium-zinc-telluride (CZT) semiconductor detector material may pave the way for absolute myocardial blood flow (MBF) measurements by SPECT. The aim of the present study was to compare K1 uptake rate constants as surrogates of absolute MBF and myocardial flow reserve index (MFRi) in humans as assessed with a CZT SPECT camera versus PET. METHODS A...
متن کاملDesign and Testing of a Prototype Pixellated CZT Detector and Shield for Hard X-Ray Astronomy
We report on the design and laboratory testing of a prototype imaging CZT detector intended for balloon flight testing in April 2000. The detector tests several key techniques needed for the construction of large-area CZT arrays, as required for proposed hard X-ray astronomy missions. Two 10 mm × 10 mm × 5 mm CZT detectors, each with a 4 × 4 array of 1.9 mm pixels on a 2.5 mm pitch, will be mou...
